Specials at The Ash (29May+)

The Virginia Ash Pub in Henstridge presents our Chef's Specials for the week. First (and featured above) we are off to Ukraine for Beef Stroganoff served with Wild Rice. Stroganoff (or Stroganov) was actually invented by French chef André Dupont in the 19th century, combining sautéed beef in a mustard and Smetana sauce. Smetana is a thick, soured heavy cream, popular in Eastern Europe- here we use soured cream and add fresh mushrooms to the dish.

Next we are in the United States of America for our Ribs and Wings combo. This American classic is served with crispy golden fries, sweetcorn on the cob, deep fried onion rings and crispy fresh coleslaw.

Finally we are in the Mediterranean for the Iberian classic of Prawns and Chorizo spaghetti in a tasty tomato sauce, served with our delicious garlic bread. While spaghetti is generally considered to have been invented in Southern Italy variations of pasta dishes have been popularised in most countries around the Med, and this one is very popular in Spain.

Starting on Saturday 3rd June The Virginia Ash Pub in Henstridge invites you to our new Breakfast Buffet Mornings! All You Can Eat for £13. We have traditional Cooked Breakfasts, Continental Breakfast, Pancakes, Pastries, Juice, Teas and Coffees and more. Every Saturday from 8.30am to 10.30am. The Virginia Ash Pub in Henstridge presents our Chef's Specials for the week. This week, featured above is our French inspired Pork Medallions With Roasted New Potatoes, Tenderstem Broccoli and Wholegrain Mustard Sauce- Perfect with a glass of our Wine of The Week- Les Mougeotte Cabernet Sauvignon- a full bodied and full flavoured red with juicy blackcurrant and peppery aromas. Then we are off to Spain with our delicious Chicken & Chorizo Pasta Bake, served with our crispy garlic bread and our Special salad. Try it with a bottle of our Journey Collection Albarino from Spain, with its aromas of lime, nectarine and grapefruit. Finally its back to Britain for our classic Country Cottage Pie, served with vegetables. This country classic goes well with a pint of beer or a refreshing lager. This week, featured above is our warming Mexican Chicken Enchiladas, served with our special salad- Perfect with a chilled pint of lager. Then we are off to Italy with our delicious dish of Spaghetti with Meatballs in Tomato sauce, served with rich and crunchy garlic bread. Try it with a glass of cold, crisp Casa de Rossa Pinot Grigio. Finally its back to Britain for our classic Venison Sausages, served with peas, mash and our own onion gravy. This country classic goes well with a bottle of our Les Mougeotte Cabernet Sauvignon. At The Virginia Ash Pub in Henstridge our Appetiser menu is full of tempting starters for your dining experience. Some match perfectly with one of our main courses and some are just a great tasty way to start your evening! Featured in the photo is one of our new additions to the starter menu- our Nachos, topped With Cheese & Salsa, served with Guacamole & Sour Cream.

Our Halloumi Fries With Salad & Spicy Tomato Chutney is a tempting and satisfying addition to our range of starters. The Halloumi fries are crispy and super tasty- the salad is light and fresh and it is accompanied by our tangy, fresh and spicy tomato chutney to dunk your fries in!

Also new to the menu is our Beef Chilli & Cheese Loaded Potato Skins With Salad. Enjoy our perfectly cooked baked potatoes with a rich Chilli Beef and melted cheese topping, balanced with a fresh and tasty salad.

Wine of The Week

At The Virginia Ash Pub in Henstridge we pride ourselves on selecting wines that enhance your dining experience. This week's 'Wine of The Week' is no exception. Vinamar Pinot Noir 2018 comes from the Aconcagua Wine Region of Chile, known for its fertile soil and exceptional wine.
The area is one of Chile’s four major wine regions and stands out as a leading South American red wine region. Within the region is the coastal area of Casablanca, where the Vinamar winery is situated. It is renowned for its quality, but also the distinct characteristics of its wines.

"This is a Light Chilean Pinot Noir, with the fragrance of red cherries and raspberries and a warming, toasty scent of oak on the finish."

We think this wine goes well with some of the richer dishes on our new menu!

The Virginia Ash Pub in Henstridge prides itself on our Chef's Specials. It's a chance for the kitchen to add new delicious dishes to your choices, which often end up on our new menus for different seasons. This week, as well as our tempting Tagliatelle Bolognese we have a special treat...Griddled Calves Liver with mash, peas and onion gravy. As you can see from our photo it's a rich and hearty meal, but the onion gravy is light and fresh. Try it with a glass of our Argentinian Malbec red wine for the perfect comfort food experience.
